Today’s Southern music goes in all different directions, so in celebration of the ever-evolving New South,we present Southern Routes Fest. Gates open at 6 pm. The show features 5 terrific acts and is sure to be a memorable night of music:

• Headliners The Constellations, out of Atlanta, specialize in groove-heavy electro-rock with touches of funk, hip-hop and psychedelia.

• Maylene & the Sons of Disaster, out of Birmingham, Ala., plays an intense, gritty blend of Southern rock and metalcore, with big hooks and bad attitude. They’re fronted by Dallas Taylor, the former lead singer for Under Oath.

• Geri X, hometown girl, is a singer/songwriter who at times brings an almost unbearable emotionalism to her songs and performances. She’s riveting.

• Orlando’s Lonesome City Travelers do scruffy acoustic folk and mountain music, a cross between Mumford & Sons and Wilco.

• OK, we lied … a little. Joining in the fun is an up-and-coming pop-punk Aficionado out of Albany, N.Y.

If Foghat had only given us “Slow Ride,” the band’s place in rock history would be secure.

But Foghat is much more than that. Foghat is “Fool For the City.” Foghat is “I Just Wanna Make Love To You.”  Foghat is a slew of classic albums, among them Foghat, Fool For the City, Rock and Roll Outlaws and Foghat Live.

Foghat is some of the best blues-boogie-rock ever done by one of the biggest bands of the 1970s/’80s.

And the band is just as fiery and intense as ever — only nowadays their focus is on the concert stage.

Finally.

Lucinda Williams last played the Tampa Bay area (at Jannus Landing) in 2004. One of the most revered singer/songwriters in any genre returns to the courtyard for what is sure to be another triumphant concert. The three-time Grammy winner (and 14-time nominee) has a voice that’s as distinctive as they come and writes songs that penetrate the soul with a deep touch of twang.

Lucinda is sure to deliver another memorable set. Be there.

This just in: The tour features the Original Flecktones with Howard Levy, their first tour in 20 years.

It’s Jannus Live’s distinct honor to present on its stage a man who is widely regarded as the best banjo player in the world, Bela Fleck. Over the course of three decades, the New York City native has revolutionized theinstrument, freeing it from stylistic constraints and putting the lie to the notion that the banjo is just for hill folk to pick on front porches. Fleck has put his magic hands and melodic sensibilities to work on bluegrass, jazz, pop, funk, classical, world music and more.

With his band The Flecktones, he is surrounded by musicians as highly regarded as himself, especially bassist Victor Wooten, who is also regarded as one of the best on the planet at his chosen axe.

Formed in 2001 in Brooklyn, N.Y., TV on the Radio inspires fervent dedication from fans,

widespread admiration from critics with their virtually unclassifiable form of thinking-person’s art-rock. Genre-benders to the core, TVOTR blends all manner of styles and genres into a far-flung but cohesive sound that is at once adventurous and accessible.

We at Jannus Live are thrilled to have this remarkable band play our stage.

Opening the show up is SORNE. Led by Morgan Sorne, the Austin-based band Sorne is known for its psychedelic and theatrical creativity. With a fondness for music, poetry, visual art, and performance the band self-released their debut LP “House of Stone” earlier this year. Old guitars, kazoos, and other objects like an old log made hollow by insects give Sorne their unique sound that has been compared to the likes of the Mars Volta and Yeasayer.
