How Did We Get Here?

I don’t intend to do a lot of outright promo stuff in this blog. There are plenty of points on the site for promotion/marketing/sales. But I would be remiss if I didn’t big up Clear pH Design for putting together what I’m thrilled to say is a killer site. Clear pH is based right here in the ‘Burg, by the way.

I mean, you gotta like the top window with the curtain effect. Also, the footer with the Jannus Live ticket center stays on your screen no matter where you are on the site.

We conceptualized jannuslive.com to give concertgoers and music lovers a wealth of information. For instance, click on a show in the curtain. It’ll widen out (but you’ve played with that already, right?) Click again and it’ll take you to a separate page for that show that will include an overview blurb, videos, press links, maybe mp3s. I’m also going to do feature stories and Q&As on acts coming to Jannus when I can score them. So watch those show pages for cool content.

As we get up and running, we’ll be populating our video player with material that we produce ourselves, be it show, soundcheck or backstage footage, on-camera interviews, weird shit that happens in the courtyard, whatever. If you think you have some cool video contact me at eric@jannuslive.com and we’ll see if we can post it.

One more kudo to Clear pH. They designed our logo, which most people seem to really like (we certainly do) and looks great on T-shirts. The only person to tell me he out-and-out hated the logo was Joran Oppelt, promotions guy at Creative Loafing. I appreciate his honesty. I will appreciate yours, I promise.

I live in Tampa now; used to live in St Pete and have been coming to Jannus Landing for years. I understand you need to co-exist with Ticketmaster ($8.80 convenience charge is very steep!). I know you have St Pete alternate outlets. Any plans for a Tampa alternate ticket outlet so us Tampa folks can buy tickets w/o dealing with Ticketmaster? Looking forward to the John Hiatt show. Thank you. Eric Weiner

What’s up with all the lame shows? No more punk, hardcore or even just good ole rock-n-roll?
Maybe that’s why you only have 6 shows booked through October!

Are there going to be any Christian Artists? IE: Tobymac, Barlow Girl, David Crowder band, etc??? I would love to bring my family down there, spend some $$$ on dinner, a show, etc….

I haven’t been to the new and improved Jannus yet but over the last 25 years I have attended dozens if not a 100 plus shows there and look forward to seeing the upgrades (bathrooms especially – thank you!!). I also just wanted to say thanks for keeping the fee free relationships because I REALLY HATE ticketbastard and their exorbitant “convenience” fees. My only suggestion so far would be to keep the alt shows in mind when pursuing acts to book – Bosstones, Flogging Molly, Less Than Jake, etc etc – I haven’t seen anything of that nature on the schedule so far and hope that it isn’t intentional. Good luck and I look forward to attending some shows there.
