“We don’t tap out, we knock out.” That’s the slogan of the Master Mehrdad Muay Thai Classic XXV. Jannus Live hosts its first event in the Strykerz Rock Fight Series, featuring seven Muay Thai bouts — men and women — on a ring in the courtyard. Strykerz Rock 1 will feature dazzling production — smoke, lights and scintillating fight introductions.
And then there are the bouts — intense, relentless and, best of all, restricted to standup fighting. Those who know the MMA world are aware that on-the-mat grappling can get a bit tedious for the spectator. Shin Do Kumate Muay Thai bouts prohibit ground-groping in favor of striking: punches, kicks, knees, elbows et al.
For the Strykerz Rock Fight Series, combatants will be introduced on the concert stage and then make their way to a regulation ring directly in front of it. The courtyard will be set up general admission, with close access to the ring. Fightgoers will also have the option of landing a VIP spot on the balcony. Balcony wristbands are a $25 surcharge and are available at the Jannus Live VIP entrance on 1st Ave. No. on the night of the fight. Access is limited. Also available: Koi Pond VIP access for $20.
We told you the new Jannus Live was going to diversify its programming. So here it is: Our first fighting event. GA tickets are only $20 in advance. A full bar will be available. DJ Verse will spin the tunes.
