w/Mighty Mongo + others TBA
No-service-fee tickets only $5, available at Detroit Liquors, Overhead Surf Shop (John’s Pass Village, Maderia Beach) and Surf Shack (St. Pete Beach)
In the spring, we threw a lo-do show by one of the most beloved bands in reggae/ska/punk, The Supervillains, and the place was mobbed. Man, the show was crazy fun. We figured: let’s do it again. The band is returning to
the courtyard with more mayhem on their minds.
The Supervillains’ newest album, Postcards from Paradise, released in January, is their best yet, blending grabby hooks with rock, ska and reggae beats, and, as always, projecting plenty of fun and attitude.
Like the last time, tickets cost $5, and are available only at outlets and at the gate. To put a $5 ticket online and charge service charges, that would be rude.
Opening will be Mighty Mongo, a Tampa Bay and JL favorite.

AGAIN?! I swear if you bring in one more ska band to that poor venue I’m gonna go bald from disappointment and stress! I wanna see Odd Future, more metal bands, and ESPECIALLY bands that haven’t been there in the same year!
So, SV is a ska band? You could say JL books too many ska bands, but at least they are booking.
I do know Mighty Mongo are an energetic and entertaining bunch. Lindsay has a new cutting edge look thats a little more dangerous and sexy. A step up for the wholesome GND look of before. These kids deserve a break!
Well mr metal head I love Ska and for that matter I love MightyMongo sooo booYah I’m pumped that this show is going down specially close to my birthday. This is the perfect birthday present to my self
Lovin’ the Mongo Love on this event – gonna be a great show! Can’t wait to see everyone!

***However – I do agree there need to be more metal shows at Jannus \m/
Really dissappointed with the new album, but the live show hasn’t changed, raw w/ energy, occasionally random, and if they don’t oversell the event the courtyard can be a great place to see a band.
Boo your faces for your trash talk. If metal bands sold as many tickets as The Villains they might get two shows in one year too.
Ive seen enough hair bands and metal attempts at jannus for a while..fact is if you bring in a badass band, they sell tickets..especially when tix are only $5. The villains killed it last time they were at JL…the place was packed and im stoked its gonna happen again.
The expendables would be an awesome band to bring back..,if anyone remembers..sold out expendies shows at jannus were epic back in the day. Also, im really impressed to see the bassnectar date this october..things like this will keep Jannus alive and I love it
Sounds like someone is bummed that no one will book their shitty metal band. They won’t book my band ANALDESTROYER either but you don’t see me crying like a girl that just scraped my knee.
